A northwesterly airflow lies over the country tonight with a front moving over the North Island, rain mainly for western parts of the country and generally drier out east with some high cloud.

Auckland & Northland

Mostly cloudy, patchy rain (persistent in some areas) moving in this evening then easing around midnight. Northerly winds.

Bay Of Plenty

High cloud with northerly winds, some rain later this evening or overnight.

Tonight’s Low: 11

Waikato & Central North Island

Cloudy with a few areas of rain moving in this evening, north to
northwesterly winds.

Tonight’s Lows: 7-9

Eastern North Island

High cloud with a few spots of rain possible this evening, high cloud
clearing away overnight. Northwesterlies.

Tonight’s Lows: 9-10

Taranaki

Rain easing to the odd shower this evening, northwesterlies ease
overnight.

Tonight’s Lows: 9-10

Western North Island

Cloudy areas with a few showers about this evening, some areas may remain
dry then clearing overnight. Northwesterlies.

Tonight’s Low: 9

Wellington

Cloudy with occasional showers, clearing around midday. Brisk to strong
northerlies.

Tonight’s Low: 10

Nelson

Rain easing and clearing this evening, northerly winds tend light westerly
overnight.

Tonight’s Lows: 5

Marlborough

Some rain easing and clearing this evening, clear skies develop overnight.
Northwesterlies.

Tonight’s Low: 4

Canterbury

High cloud clearing away from mid and North Canterbury this evening, some
rain about northern parts of North Canterbury clearing this evening too. Then
clear skies overnight with light winds.

Tonight’s Lows: 2-3

West Coast

Occasional showers with north to northwest. Rain towards dawn in
Fiordland.

Coastal Otago

Areas of high cloud, light winds.

Central Otago

Plenty of high cloud, northerly winds. Odd spot of rain possible west of
the Southern Lakes area.
