A front passes out to the east of the country during this morning and early afternoon, expect morning rain in many areas then a mostly sunny afternoon. Showers may continue in many western regions.

Northland
Sunny spells and some cloud with westerly breezes. Chance of a shower (mainly early morning) otherwise mostly dry.
Highs: 16-17

Auckland
Rain at first early in the morning then easing to showers by mid morning, northeasterly winds change westerly. Sunny spells sneak through at times from afternoon.
High: 16

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island
Morning rain, possibly heavy (especially about the Bay Of Plenty) then easing to showers around midday as northeasterlies change northwest. The odd sunny spell sneaks through from afternoon also.
Highs: 12-17

Eastern North Island
Cloudy with rain moving in early in the morning, northeast breezes. Rain clears mid afternoon as northeast winds ease. High cloud decreases in the evening.
High: 15

Western North Island
Rain with northeasterly breezes, heavy about Taranaki. Rain eases to showers in the afternoon with winds changing northwest. A few sunny spells may even sneak through.
High: 15-16

Wellington
Rain clearing around midday, brisk north to northeasterly winds. Skies mostly cloudy for the day, clear spells in the evening with winds tending northwest.
Highs: 13-14

Nelson
Rain in the morning possibly heavy then easing to clear around midday, northeast breezes tend northwest in the afternoon with sunny spells developing.
Highs: 14-15

Marlborough
Rain in the morning possibly heavy then easing to clear around midday, brisk northeasterlies tend lighter northwest in the afternoon with sunny skies developing.

Canterbury
Some brief early morning rain possible then expect sunny spells to increase with northeasterly winds easing. Mostly sunny conditions in the afternoon.

West Coast
Cloudy spells with north to northeast breezes, showers.
High: 13

Coastal Otago
Any early rain clears then expect sunny spells with light winds, low risk of a brief isolated shower in the evening.
Highs: 13-14

Central Otago
Chance of an early spot of rain otherwise expect mostly sunny weather, light winds tend northerly.
High: 12

Southland
Sunny with some cloud, light winds. Cloud builds a little in the afternoon and there could be an isolated shower or two which then clears in the evening.
