Thursday’s national forecast

Mostly dry weather over the country today in a west to southwesterly airflow. The odd shower may pepper Fiordland and cloud will affect the West Coast of the South Island and Southland, elsewhere should see some sun.

Upper North Island

A mix of sunny and cloudy areas with southwest breezes a bit brisk at times about Auckland. Bay Of Plenty mainly in the east should experience lighter winds. Light winds for Gisborne with mostly sunny weather.
HIGHS: 23-26

Lower North Island

Sunny and cloudy periods with southwest breezes, any morning showers clear. Morning cloud in Wellington with light southerlies tending northerly late afternoon, sunny breaks after midday. Mostly sunny in Wairarapa and about Hawkes Bay with light winds.
HIGHS: 21-23, 26 out east

Upper South Island

Light southerlies tend east to northeast in the afternoon on the east coast, expect mostly sunny weather with some cloud at times. Mostly sunny in Nelson with light winds tending westerly or southwest. Cloudy and sunny areas on the West Coast with west to southwest breezes.
HIGHS: 18-24

Lower South Island

Westerly breezes with mostly sunny weather, Southland can expect cloudy skies with the odd shower and westerlies will be quite gusty there. Fiordland will be cloudy with the odd shower in the ranges there also.
HIGHS: 16-20

Warmest – East of the North Island and the Bay Of Plenty

Windiest – Southland

Sunniest – Nelson, Bay Of Plenty and eastern parts of the North Island

Wettest – Fiordland and Southland

LOL, like our northeasterly Michael. You could take a drive to Whakatane or Opotiki, should be good weather there with light winds today. Perhaps even just east of Rotorua 😀
