Upper North Island

Showers clear this morning for most with sunny spells developing this afternoon, southwesterly breezes.

Lower North Island

Early showers clear in the west this morning with sunny areas then increasing, cool south to southwest winds ease in the evening. For Wellington and the east coast showers ease then clear early afternoon, sunny areas then develop. Brisk southerlies ease later in the day. About the ranges of Hawkes Bay and Gisborne a few showers may hang around then clearing in the evening.

Upper South Island

Showers on the east coast ease and clear by midday, sunny areas increase in the afternoon with cool southerly winds easing and tending northeast later in the day. A few isolated showers may get going about inland areas of Marlborough late afternoon for a time then clearing in the evening. Sunny spells on the West Coast with southwesterly breezes, chance of an overnight shower north of Hokitika.

Lower South Island

Showers ease and clear around midday about Southland and the Catlins, sunny spells in the afternoon with brisk west to southwest breezes. Sunny spells north of Dunedin and for inland Otago with west to southwest winds gradually easing, there may be a late afternoon isolated shower about inland North Otago then clearing in the evening. Brisk southwesterlies about Fiordland and South Westland, some cloud and showers affecting southern parts of Fiordland during the day, sunny spells elsewhere.
