Winter getting you down? Just look at these stats from the Weather Watch Centre – showing Winter IS slowly on the way out!
Extra daylight over New Zealand since the shortest day in June
Auckland – extra 17 minutes Wellington – an extra 22 minutes
Christchurch – extra 26 minutes
Invercargill – 27 minutes more daylight
And the days will get longer, faster, over the coming weeks!

I suspect you mean 17 mins (for example) extra daylight TOTAL since the shortest day, not an increase of 17 mins per day! That would give us a stunningly short route to Arctic summer … in a month, we get nearly eight hours more light.
Cheers for a lively site, btw

Haha – yes, a total of 17 mins (for Akld) and not an extra 17mins a day! Will adjust the story!
