A west to northwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand today, naturally this leads to warm temperatures in the east. In the west it will be cloudier with the odd shower for the South Island’s West Coast, wet weather moves into the west of the North Island during the afternoon and evening.

Mostly sunny weather with northwesterly breezes. There may be some morning
cloud in the west which breaks away.

Bay Of Islands
Mostly sunny weather with northwesterly breezes tending a little more
northerly in the afternoon.
Cloudy spells with northwesterly winds. Chance of a shower at times
otherwise mainly dry.

Central North Island, Lake Taupo, Waikato
& Bay Of Plenty
Mostly cloudy skies with northwesterly winds, the odd shower possible about
northern parts of the Central North Island, the Waikato and Bay Of Plenty
otherwise expect plenty of dry weather too. Rain moves in during the evening
into southwestern parts of the Central North Island.

Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny with high cloud increasing in the afternoon, northwesterly
winds for most although northeasterlies are possible along the coast of Hawkes
Bay and Gisborne. Overnight some rain moves into Wairarapa.

Western North Island
A few sunny spells about this morning however becoming mostly cloudy in the
afternoon with northwesterly breezes. The odd spot of rain about Taranaki from
afternoon then more widespread rain develops this evening for most.
There may be a few sunny spells about this morning then becoming mostly
cloudy by midday, strong northerly winds. Rain develops later this
evening.

Nelson & Kateriteri
Sunny spells and increasing cloud today, rain develops later in the evening
moving in from the northwest. Northerly winds.
Sunny spells with areas of high cloud thickening during the day, brisk to
strong northwesterly winds. Rain develops overnight.
Mostly sunny with some high cloud for a time, north to northeasterly
breezes near the coast. Winds tend a little more northwest inland.
Cloudy with the odd shower, long dry spells too. Rain moves in overnight.

Coastal Otago
Sunny with some high cloud, light winds this morning then afternoon
easterly breezes.
Highs: 19-20
Central Otago
Sunny with some high cloud, westerly breezes. Some rain moves in
overnight.
Sunny areas and some high cloud with westerlies tending more northwest in
the afternoon, there may be a spot of rain at times otherwise mainly dry. Rain
moves in overnight.
