An anticyclone centred just east of New Zealand covers most of the country today. Weather will be mostly settled although the odd shower could be expected about the lower North Island in the west and for the West Coast of the South Island.
Northland, Auckland, Waikato, CNI, BOP
A mix of sunny and cloudy spells with light north to northeasterly breezes.  There may be a light morning shower about western Waikato.
Highs: 20-23
Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny with light northeasterlies. About Wairarapa a period of rain  develops in the morning then clears during the afternoon, expect northerly  breezes there.
Highs: 20-22
Western North Island
Cloudy periods with a few sunny breaks at times mainly afternoon, west to  northwest breezes. Chance of the odd shower at times also otherwise mainly  dry.
Highs: 18-20
Nelson
Morning rain eases to sunny spells and the odd shower in the afternoon,  showers clear in the evening. Northwest breezes.
High: 18
Marlborough & Wellington
Cloudy in the morning with some rain developing which eases then clears  later in the afternoon, northerly breezes pick up a little in the evening.
Highs: 18-21
Canterbury
Mostly sunny with light winds tending easterly for coastal areas. Northern  parts of North Canterbury and about the Kaikoura coast may see a shower spread  from the west during the day.
High: 17-19
West Coast
Periods of rain at times north of about Westport, light winds tend  northerly. Further south expect cloudy areas with light winds, chance of the odd  shower at times otherwise mainly dry.
High: 17-18
Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny weather with light winds, a few clouds about the Southland  coastline.
Highs: 16-18
