Saturday’s national forecast

It will be a very changeable weekend across the country.  The driest conditions will be found out to the east.  But even there, a few showers can’t be ruled out.

The wettest conditions will be found about the western South Island where warnings are up for heavy rain.

For today;

Upper North Island

Showers will be clearing this morning.  Look for a mix of sun and clouds with a low risk for a few showers re-developing late this afternoon.  Highs 23-25.

Lower North Island

Morning showers clearing with a mix of sun and clouds in most areas.  Mainly cloudy skies are expected about Wellington and Wairarapa where a few showers may re-develop this afternoon.  Highs around 20 about Wellington.  Highs 23-25 about the rest of the region.

Upper South Island

A mix of sun and clouds for most regions.  Mainly cloudy skies are expected for Westland with showers becoming more numerous throughout the day.  Some heavy falls are possible.  Highs from 21-23 in the west, 26-29 in the east.

Lower South Island

Cloudy with showers in the west.  Some heavy falls are possible.  Dry with a mix of sun and clouds in the east.  Clouds are expected to increase late today with showers possible tonight.  In the deep south, look for increasing clouds with showers developing late today.  Highs around 20 in the west and coastal sections of the deep south.  Highs 23-26 inland and in the east.
