Mainly settled over the North Island today under a ridge of high pressure, northwesterly winds build over the South Island with a front moving onto Southland / Otago in the afernoon then gradually moving northwards. Hot temperatures in the east.

Cloudy areas, a few sunny spells possible mainly this afternoon. East to northeasterly winds.

Bay Of Plenty

Morning cloud breaking to sunny spells, east to northeasterly winds.
High: 21

Waikato

Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells, light east to northeast winds.
High: 23

Central North Island

Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells, light winds.
Highs: 22-23

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny with east to northeasterly winds, northwesterly winds push into the Wairarapa this afternoon.
Highs: 23-25

Western North Island

Sunny spells with light west to northwest winds. Northerlies for northern Taranaki.
Highs: 21-24

Wellington

Mostly sunny with breezy north to northwesterly winds, cloud thickens this evening.
High: 20

Nelson

Mostly sunny, northerly winds build this afternoon.
Highs: 22-23

Marlborough

Sunny with breezy northwesterly winds and hot temperatures, high cloud develops this evening.
Highs: 26-27

Canterbury

Sunny with northwesterly winds, increasing this afternoon especially inland. Some high cloud develops also, later this evening a few spells of rain are possible.

West Coast

Cloudy with rain moving into Fiordland this morning then pushing into North Westland in the evening, northerly winds.

Coastal Otago

High cloud thickens from this morning, a few spells of rain develop this afternoon then clear in the evening. Northeasterly winds.

Central Otago

Thick high cloud with north to northwesterly winds, a few spells of rain develop around midday then easing during the afternoon. Sunny areas sneaking in from afternoon also.
Highs: 20-23

Southland

Cloudy with northerly winds, a few spellls of rain. Winds chanve southwest late morning with rain clearing by midday, sunny areas then increase this afternoon.
High: 21
