RainWatch

A few showers dotted the lower North Island overnight.  But the majority of the rain today has been in a band moving up the eastern South Island.

This band of light showers is now at the top of the eastern Mainland and will be pushing on to the lower North Island early this afternoon.  The band of showers is expected to work its way up the eastern North Island this afternoon and this evening, affecting Wairarapa, Hawkes Bay and Gisborne.  Rainfall totals will be light.

Tomorrow, the threat for rain will shift toward the upper North Island.  High pressure crossing the country will set up an easterly flow for Auckland, The Coromandel Peninsula and Northland.  That could spread some light showers across these areas during the late morning and early afternoon.

Some light showers will also be possible late tomorrow night about the western part of the upper Mainland.
