Thick high cloud out east today, a few spots of rain are possible spreading from the west. Cloudy in the west with areas of rain or drizzle, rain most persistent on the South Island’s West Coast.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Cloudy with patchy rain or drizzle clearing by midday about Northland and Auckland, continuing elsewhere. Rain moves in again later in the evening. Northeasterly winds tend northwest this afternoon.
Highs: 16-18

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mostly cloudy with a few patchy showers from afternoon about Taranaki and the Central North Island, further south in the evening. Breezy northerlies for Taranaki and lighter winds elsewhere.
Highs: 14-18

Eastern North Island

Some morning sun possible then expect thickening high cloud by midday, north to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 17-18

Wellington

Cloudy with the odd shower, more likely this afternoon onwards then expect some evening rain. North to northwesterly winds.
High: 15

Marlborough & Nelson

Cloudy, drizzle about Nelson from morning and dry about Marlborough. Areas of rain develop late afternoon or evening for all. Breezy north to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 14-16

Canterbury

High cloud thickens this morning, a few spots of rain possible late afternoon or evening. Northeasterly winds breezy about the coast, winds tend a little more northerly inland.
Highs: 13-15

West Coast

Cloudy with showers turning to rain around midday, chance of a few heavy falls about then easing this evening. Northerly winds.
High: 14

Southland & Otago

Mostly cloudy with northeasterly winds, the odd spot of rain possible mainly this afternoon and or evening.
Highs: 11-13
