A front passes over the country from the west today bringing rain, especially to western regions throughout the country, falls out east will be more brief. Watch for thunderstorms and heavy falls about eastern Bay Of Plenty this evening.

Northland

Rain moves in this morning, possibly heavy for a time then easing this evening to the odd shower as strong northerlies change northwest.

Auckland

Cloudy with rain moving in this morning, rain may be patchy then easing
this evening to the odd shower as brisk northerlies change northwest.

High: 17

Bay Of Plenty

Cloudy with strengthening north to northeasterly winds, rain towards
midday. Rain may be heavy for a time this afternoon then easing and clearing
this evening. About eastern Bay Of Plenty rain lingers a little longer with
heavy falls and thunderstorms moving in this evening then clearing
overnight.

Waikato & Central North Island

Cloudy with rain developing this morning, breezy northeasterly winds. Rain
eases to some cloud and the odd shower late afternoon or evening as winds change
northwest.

Highs: 13-16

Eastern North Island

Cloudy skies, spells of rain move in mid to late afternoon then clear in
the evening. Breezy northerlies ease later in the day.

Highs: 16-17

Taranaki

Rain this morning, heavy for a time towards midday then easing mid
afternoon to the odd shower as strong northeasterlies tend moderate
northwest.

Western North Island

Cloudy with northerlies, some rain develops around midday then eases mid
afternoon as northeasterlies change northwest.

Wellington

Periods of rain moving in this morning, clearing late afternoon as strong
northerlies gusting to gale force at times tend brisk northwest.

Nelson

Rain this morning with a few heavy falls, clearing around midday as strong
northerlies tend northwest then ease. Sunny spells increase this
afternoon.

Rain moves in early this morning, rain may be briefly heavy around midday
then clearing early afternoon as strong northerlies change northwest then ease.
Sunny areas increase after rain clears.

Thick high cloud this morning with some brief rain then clearing, breezy
northeasterlies tend northwest by midday. Mostly sunny this afternoon.

West Coast

Heavy rain at first today with a chance of thunderstorms then easing to
occasional showers. Northerlies.

Coastal Otago

A few early spells of rain clear then becoming mostly sunny with
northeasterlies tend northwest.

High: 15

Southland & Central Otago

A few early showers clear then expect sunny areas with northerly winds.
Showers may move in again later in the evening.
