Monday night’s national forecast

A depression moves off to the east of the North Island overnight, showers about the North Island ease this evening and gradually clear in the west. Showers in the east are not likely to clear till tomorrow morning. In the South Island conditions are fairly tame under a weak ridge of high pressure.

Auckland & Northland
Showers ease this evening then gradually clear, southwesterly winds.
Low tonight: 11-12

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island
Showers, some heavy then easing this evening and gradually clearing. Southwesterlies.
Lows tonight: 6-9

Eastern North Island
Showers, heavy about Hawkes Bay and Gisborne ease overnight potentially clearing around dawn. Southerly winds.
Lows tonight: 8-9

Western North Island
Any remaining showers clear this evening and skies become mainly clear overnight. Southerlies ease.
Low tonight: 6-8

Wellington
Showers ease and clear this evening, skies becoming clear overnight with southerlies dying out.
Lows tonight: 7-8

Nelson
Mainly sunny with northerlies easing this evening.
Low tonight: 5-6

Marlborough
Any remaining showers south of the Wairau Valley clear this evening. Skies becoming clear overnight with southeasterlies dying out.
Lows tonight: 2-3

Canterbury
Cloud clearing from the hills and ranges of North Canterbury, mainly clear skies eslewhere with easterlies easing this evening. Some high cloud develops overnight.
Lows tonight: 3-4

West Coast
Mainly clear with some cloud developing this evening south of Haast, some drizzle possible about Fiordland by dawn.
Lows tonight: 6-8

Southland and Otago
High cloud increase from this evening or overnight. West to northwest winds about Southland and Central Otago. Easterlies about coastal Otago easing this evening.
Low tonight: 3-9
