At midday today there was quite the variation in the nation’s temperatures.

Hastings had the top temperature of 19 degrees with Gisborne not far behind on 19.

Down south Christchurch and Gore had highs of just 8 degrees. 

Meanwhile the wind is making itself known in Kaikoura where a gust of 105 kilometres an hour was recorded in the last hour.
