Clocks went forward one hour earlier this morning and the lighter evenings are now underway.
Although mornings will be a little darker to what we’ve been used to in recent weeks, under clear conditions the sun will set around 7.10pm around Gisborne this week, and as late as 7.50pm in the deep south.
In recent years daylight saving has been extended by 3 weeks with 1 week being added to the beginning and 2 weeks at the end.
There has still been some discussion about making it all year round but with strong opposition to the idea.
