Friday’s national forecast

One more generally settled day is expected before things start to get windy and maybe rainy for this weekend.

Today, the only places likely to see showers are along the eastern coast of the North Island and the western coast of the South Island.  Gisborne, Hawkes Bay, Bay of Plenty and the West Coast could all see showers late this afternoon.  Northland and Auckland could also see a few passing showers today, but chances are pretty small.

The rest of the country will see a mix of sun and clouds and mild early autumn temperatures.  Highs for the North Island will generally be in the lower 20’s.  Some upper teens are possible along the eastern shores where clouds and showers are expected.

The South Island should generally see highs in the upper teens to right around 20.  Some mid 20’s are possible about central Otago.
