A front which has brought thunderstorms to western parts of the North Island eases for most this evening although a chain of showers may continue overnight especially about the Auckland area.

Northland
Showers, some heavy with thunderstorms then easing this evening. Cloudy spells and the odd shower remaining overnight. West to southwest winds.

Auckland

Heavy showers and thunderstorms ease this evening, chance of small hail at times mainly overnight. Brisk southwesterlies.

Bay Of Plenty

Occasional showers, a few of which may still be heavy then clearing this
evening. Cloud breaks overnight as breezy westerlies tend southwest.

Waikato & Central North Island

Showers, some heavy then easing overnight. Breezy west to southwest
winds.
Tonight’s Lows: 7-9

Eastern North Island

Breezy westerlies with areas of cloud, cloud breaks overnight.
Tonight’s Lows: 9-11

Taranaki

Showers, possibly heavy with thunderstorms then easing overnight.
Southwesterlies freshen.
Tonight’s Low: 10

Western North Island

Remaining showers clearing later this evening or around midnight, breezy
westerlies. Cloud breaks overnight.

Areas of cloud with northwesterlies tending more westerly later this
evening or overnight. Chance of a shower.

Areas of cloud, breaking away overnight. Southwesterlies develop this
evening.

Areas of high cloud, gradually breaking away overnight. Westerlies.

High cloud, winds change southwest for a time earlier this evening in the
south and a little later in the north bringing a few showers which then clear.
Cloud breaks overnight.

West Coast

Showers, some heavy then easing overnight. Southwesterlies.

Coastal Otago

A few showers ease this evening then clear, cloud clearing overnight.
Westerlies.

Central Otago

Any remaining showers clear this evening then clear spells increase,
westerlies.

Southland

Periods of cloud with west to northwest winds, showers overnight as
westerlies become strong.
