Similar conditions tonight as it has been today. An anticyclone lies over the South Island today while a southeasterly airflow blows over the North Island. The odd shower or some rain north of Hawkes Bay in the east, any isolated showers about western parts of the North Island clear this evening. Mainly settled elsewhere across the country.

Northland

Periods of cloud breaking up overnight, chance of an isolated shower this evening then clearing. East to southeasterly winds ease.

Auckland

Periods of cloud breaking up overnight, chance of an isolated shower this evening then clearing. Light winds tend southeasterly.

Tonight’s Low: 14

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island

Periods of cloud break up overnight, any isolated showers clearing this
evening. Southeasterly winds ease overnight.

Tonight’s Lows: 10-15

Eastern North Island

Clear spells about the Wairarapa, cloudier skies further north with the odd
shower about the Hawkes Bay and some rain for Gisborne. Southerly winds.

Tonight’s Lows: 13-14

Western North Island

Mainly clear skies with breezy southeasterlies easing a little this
evening.

Tonight’s Lows: 9-10

Wellington

Mainly clear skies with southeasterly winds, easing a little
overnight.

Tonight’s Lows: 10-11

Nelson

Clear skies with northerlies easing this evening, light winds
overnight.

Tonight’s Lows: 9-10

Marlborough

Mainly clear skies, east to northeast breezes ease later this evening.
Light winds overnight.

spreading to the coast overnight. Easterly breezes ease after midnight.

Clear skies, south to southwesterly winds ease later this evening. Light
winds overnight.

South to southwesterly winds ease for Southland and Central Otago??

It’s been light winds all day over those areas.

Invercargill seeing 10 to 15 km/h SW winds this evening, expecting them to ease later. Central Otago granted the winds are a bit lighter but still from the SW driection.

Never said anything about them being strong winds.
