A soggy Sunday around NZ

It was quite a Saturday here in New Zealand. We saw heavy rain and flooding across many parts of the country.

Today things are also looking very wet with more rain already falling over parts of the country.

Currently, rain is falling over the eastern Bay of Plenty and Gisborne. Rain is also falling on the western and lower North Island. Rain is also affecting the upper South Island this morning, especially about the Nelson area and the middle West Coast.

Reports from around New Zealand indicate that, even where it is not raining, the air is still feeling pretty heavy.
On our Facebook page, WeatherWatch.co.nz readers sounded off about how the conditions were in their part of New Zealand:

Leanne Batey is in Papamoa where she the rain has stopped for now. Nardine Theodore says it is wet, warm and humid in Woodville.

Denis Wadsworth says he received 28mm of rain overnight in New Plymouth. That’s down from the 58mm received Friday night and early Saturday.

Kim Shelley says it has stopped raining in Tauranga, but says there is a lot of damage out there and people are doing clean up right now.

We will be keeping any eye out for additional heavy rain and subsequent flooding problems today.
