On comments for a Tasman/Nelson rain radar station. I live 19kms from the Hawkes Bay rain radar station which has been in operation for over 15 years and it has not prevent flooding in our area. How does rain radar stop flooding?

With the media being focused (hyped) on the flooding drama another weather event has gone unnoticed.
Yesterday 4th July Hamilton either nearly or did experience its hottest July day on record with some parts of the city reaching 21c. I remember a few years ago when New York reached a record of 18c on a mid-winter day. it made headline news all around the world with a large photo of New Yorkers on the streets in short sleeves.

Very interesting โ and yes 21 degrees in July is extremely mild for Waikato. Sadly the Government forecasters + media focus much more on the hype of a potential thunderstorm than the calm sharing of facts.
