hi ww just wondering how much rain didnelson get last night?

WW Forecast Team on 21/01/2026 9:50pm

You’ll need to check MetService.com for that as NZ doesn’t have open data for us to share that info.

ok

I’m in Whangamata, and this latest weather event in my opinion was equal to if not more than Cyclone Gabriel, certainly there is more flooding, slips etc . My question is although it was rated to be significant by forecasters it didn’t really get the attention it deserved until it was upon us, therefore giving little advance notice. Maybe I missed something or did this event balloon beyond expectations.

there was lots of warning this was gonna hit phil talked about this since last week .

Caro on 14/01/2026 11:27pm

We are planning to walk the Lake Waikaremoana track starting on Monday the 19th.
Will the rainfall in that week be significant or on and off?

WW Forecast Team on 14/01/2026 11:56pm

Hi Caro, next week looks to have easterlies and showers around Hawke’s Bay and Gisborne, pushing inland to some degree. Nothing too serious in the rainfall category though, and winds a little brisk in exposed places but no gales at this stage. Severe weather risks are more likely around Thursday/Friday if that tropical low drops down our way. So that’s worth keeping an eye on.
Cheers and have a great time 🙂
