As of 2024 we will no longer be publishing questions related to weather forecasts if they are answered via our hyper-local hourly & 10 day forecasts, weather maps and regular daily and monthly weather & climate videos.
We’re a small NZ business with limited resources to respond to general weather questions. Our social media pages may be helpful to you, especially if you want to often talk (or groan!) about your local weather. You can find more resources from us here if that’s your thing.

Guys, a small complaint.
Over the last year or so, I have noticed that when I refresh the web page/app to get the latest rainfall amount for a location (have experimented with about 10 locations, including my local area of Takapuna), it won’t always update to the current time, and often goes back 30 minutes to up to and hour and a half before, so we aren’t able to see the most up to date rainfall amount. Not sure if you guys are aware of this but I thought I would let you know. Cheers.

Hi Aaron, is this to do with rainfall that has already fallen – or rainfall that is forecast to yet fall?
Cheers

What a great weather setup, easy-to-use and understand. I do check the forecast a few times and checking manly for changes as we have a reasonable size vegetable garden which is used all year round. We rely on a water gauge to check for overnight rain. If there was a place that I could fill in for the amount of rain for the past 24hrs I could do that. Once again what a great forecast report.

Hey there
I was wondering if you would have an idea of what the weather will be like for the far north (Kaitaia and further north) of New Zealand for the end of November and early December.
Cheers Riley

Hi there Riley, we don’t have a December outlook yet but generally speaking we’re seeing a few rain bands moving through over the next couple weeks affecting the upper North Island. Weather forecasts tend to only go out 10 days or so with accuracy – beyond that the timing/placement of weather systems in the maps can move around so much it becomes unreliable in a narrow island nation like NZ. But there are some dry settled patches, but also a few lows to keep an eye on. Likely warmer than average too.

hi there, I came here just to see if there was any article or if the question has been asked already…? but just very curious to learn why the weather in the upper North island has become so incredibly HOT all of a sudden???

Hi Paul, High pressure north of NZ is pulling down subtropical air from around New Caledonia/southern Vanuatu and the Coral Sea area. The placement of that high is helping drag down that humid summer-like air. This should ease back in the coming days/nights. It’s been well above average/normal for parts of NZ over the past week due to these airflows.
Cheers,
Phil D
