For over a decade WeatherWatch.co.nz has loved to receive your comments and questions here, however we need to tighten up on our rules of reply so that we can spend more time focusing on forecasting.

Before you ask a question please ensure you have read our latest news stories, weather video and specially made infographics on our homepage, as we will no longer be answering questions that are already generally answered there, or answered already in our hourly or 10 day forecasts at both WeatherWatch.co.nz or RuralWeather.co.nz

Your current temperature for Richmond Tasman is not working.

WW Forecast Team on 7/07/2020 10:33pm

Hi Helen – can you please provide us with the Station ID in that current/now box? We can then block this weather station from appearing and it will find the next nearest accurate one. (If you can’t find it, perhaps screenshot the page for us and email it to news @ weatherwatch.co.nz)

Cheers
WW

Obai Tashkandi on 6/07/2020 4:36am

Hi WW,
I just want to know how many air masses do we have in New Zealand? Because I think it varies from country to country.

WW Forecast Team on 6/07/2020 7:57pm

Hey Obai, this link explains air masses (although it may be a bit heavy reading) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_mass
In NZ we focus on a few main areas… 1) the Polar area over the Antarctic region (dry and cold), 2) the Southern Ocean (stormy), 3) Australia’s interior (hot and dry), 4) Sub-tropics (can be warm and very wet). These are basically the main areas that shift our temperatures the most and give us our extremes.
Cheers
Phil D
