Weekend Newsfeed: Fairly settled Sunday ahead of windy week

Sunday is generally settled thanks to high pressure surrounding much of NZ but westerlies kick in for southern NZ later on and then slide northwards for the start of next week.

Westerly quarter winds this coming week may be severe gale, or just blustery, for many regions for a few days (thanks to a storm in the Southern ocean centred near Antarctica). Later this coming week more high pressure from Australia moves in.

Wind and rain warnings may be possible early next week. Check the latest MetService warnings and watches here.

So it’s going to be cold and really windy next week? I don’t think that is fair, do you. I’m getting really sick of this constant bad weather and you never tell us when it’s going to improve. Over it
