Easter Weekend: Fine line between good & bad weather

The weather looks good for most, but a large area of low pressure near the eastern side of the North Island is one to keep an eye on this long weekend.

Between this nearby low and a large high pressure zone near Australia it makes a fine line between good/settled weather and bad/stormier weather for those on holiday this long weekend. For now, the forecast has improved from recent days – but because only a slight movement westwards of this low could make for windier and wetter weather we’re going to provide a special weather update on Good Friday.

After an unsettled Thursday, much of the South Island improves across the long weekend.
