Wednesday’s national forecast

Upper North Island

Some cloud this morning brings the risk of a shower then mostly sunny with south to southeasterly winds, winds tend more southwest this afternoon about Northland and Auckland perhaps fresh at times. High’s in the low twenties.

Lower North Island

In the west morning showers clear then mostly sunny with southeasterly winds. For Wellington and along the east coast skies are a bit cloudier with a few showers, dry periods also. Gisborne sees rain this morning then easing from afternoon. Temperatures about Wellington and in the east sitting in the mid teens.

Upper South Island

Any morning cloud clears Nelson and Marlborough then mostly sunny, light winds for Nelson, east to southeast breezes for Marlborough. Tasman may see a few isolated showers during the day. Southerlies through Cook Strait will be gusty. Canterbury sees showers clear early afternoon then sunny areas increase, fresh south to southwest winds ease later today. Temperatures in the mid teens for most although Nelson and parts of Marlborough reach into the early twenties.

Lower South Island

Any morning showers clear then sunny spells increase, southwest winds tend southeast this afternoon. High’s in the mid teens nearer the coast, reaching into the late teens or perhaps early twenties for some inland areas.
