A gusty southwesterly airflow eases over New Zealand today while a ridge moves onto the South Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Morning showers then afternoon sunny spells, brisk southwesterly winds.
Highs: 23-26

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Morning showers clear then becoming mostly sunny in the afternoon, breezy south to southeasterly winds ease in the evening.
Highs: 19-22

Eastern North Island
Morning showers clear then some sun breaks through in the afternoon, brisk to strong southwesterly winds ease at night.
Highs: 19-23

Wellington
A few morning showers clear, some afternoon sun possible. Fresh southerlies ease in the evening.
High: 18

Marlborough & Nelson
Any morning cloud clears to mostly sunny weather, southerlies tend east to northeast in the afternoon.
Highs: 22-24

Canterbury
Cloud breaks to afternoon sunny spells, southwesterly winds tend northeasterly in the evening.
Highs: 17-18

West Coast
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, overnight or more towards dawn on Thursday rain moves into Fiordland. Light winds tend west to northwest in the afternoon.
Highs: 18-25

Southland & Otago
Early mid level cloud breaks to sunny areas and some high cloud, overnight spots of rain possible. Light winds. Coastal Otago sees northeasterly winds pick up in the afternoon keeping temperatures a little cooler then further inland and about Southland.
Highs: 16-26
