Wednesday’s national forecast

A high brings settled weather to the South Island today. Southern and western parts of the North Island are mainly settled in a southeasterly airflow however the East Coast and Waikato northwards sees rain or showers.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Cloudy with occasional showers for Northland. Some rain for Auckland, more so in the north and eastern areas like eastern Coromandel / Great Barrier Island where there could be heavy falls. The Waikato and Bay Of Plenty is cloudy with a few showers, mainly afternoon / evening. Eastern Bay Of Plenty may be fairly dry for much of the day. Gusty east to southeasterly winds.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mostly sunny with southeasterly breezes.
Highs: 10-14

Eastern North Island

Mostly cloudy with the odd shower, mainly Hawkes Bay northwards. Light southeasterly winds.
Highs: 11-13

Wellington

Mostly sunny with light southeasterly winds.
High: 12

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny with light winds.
Highs: 11-12

Canterbury

Sunny with light winds, east to northeast breezes across the Plains in the afternoon. Frosty morning and night especially inland.
High: 10

West Coast

Sunny with light winds, frosty morning and night especially inland.
High: 10

Southland & Otago

Sunny with light winds. Heavy frosts morning and night especially inland.
Highs: 6-10
