Wednesday’s national forecast

A low pressure system west of the North Island and a high far to the southeast of New Zealand drags a tropical northeasterly airflow over the country today. Rain is still expected for many regions with heavy falls about the Waikato, Bay Of Plenty, Central North Island and along the east coast.

Northland
Sunny spells with north to northwesterly breezes, chance of a mid afternoon
isolated shower otherwise dry.
Highs: 17-18

Auckland

Morning rain eases, clearing by midday about northern parts of Auckland,
sunny spells even appearing. Further south into Auckland skies remain cloudier
with patchy rain continuing for much of the day. Strong northeasterlies
ease.
Highs: 17-18

Bay Of Plenty

Rain with heavy falls, brisk to strong easterly winds.
Highs: 16

Waikato & Central North Island

Rain with brisk east to southeasterly winds, rain may be heavy at
times.
Highs: 11-14

Eastern North Island

Rain with heavy falls at times, gusty easterly winds.
Highs: 13-14

Western North Island

Periods of rain with strong gusty southeasterly winds.
Highs: 13-15

Wellington

Cloudy with patchy rain, strong southeasterlies.
High: 12

Nelson

Cloudy with patchy showers, strong east to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 12-13

Marlborough

Cloudy with periods of rain. Brisk east to southeaterly winds, strong about
the Sounds.
High: 12

Canterbury

Cloudy with drizzle patches. East to southeasterly winds.
High: 10

West Coast

Early showers, mainly north of Haast clearing then expect high cloud. Gusty
southeasterlies ease overnight.
High: 13

Coastal Otago

Cloudy with the odd drizzle patch, dry seplls too. Breezy
northeasterlies.
High: 9

Central Otago

Sunny areas and high cloud with east to northeasterly winds, areas of cloud
thicker and lower in northeastern parts of the region.
Highs: 7-8

Southland

Sunny areas and high cloud, east to northeasterly winds.
High: 11

No idea what time it went out but its 5:39am here and no power anywhere in sight around the neighbourhood…  love laptops with wifi off cellphone..

Not looking forward to when our little boy wakes up who has to have a certain breakfast heated to a certain temperature.  No microwave.. we are in trouble… heh

It sure did sound wild last night!

Southwest here,got worse after 4am banging/whistling now.
