Wednesday Newsfeed: Windy westerlies are coming – today is calmer though

Low pressure remains east of the North Island today driving in more cloud, showers and patchy rain for parts of Hawke’s Bay, Mahia Peninsula and Gisborne area.

Elsewhere is mostly dry and settled, with hot weather around the inland and western sides of the North Island. Even parts of Auckland City will be close to 30 degrees today (being so coastal that doesn’t happen too often).

As we go into Thursday a sou’west wind develops for many across NZ – this is ahead of a much windier Friday and Saturday nationwide where gales are likely in exposed places.

If you’re going camping this Friday and Saturday please download our new App to help you have fewer nasty surprises.
