A south to southeasterly airflow lies over the country today, conditions will be fairly cloudy in eastern regions while out west sunny skies dominate. Expect showers for the North Island’s east coast.

Auckland & Northland
Mostly sunny with east to southeast breezes, a few showers move across the north of Northland during the day however.
Highs: 18-20

Central North Island, Bay Of Plenty, Waikato
Sunny about the Bay Of Plenty, mostly sunny elsewhere after morning cloud clears away. Southeasterly breezes.
Highs: 18-22

Eastern North Island
Cloudy with the odd shower about, cool southerly winds.
High: 17

Western North Island
Sunny spells with southeasterly breezes, winds gusty about Kapiti and southern Taranaki.
Highs: 18-19

Wellington
Cloudy spells with brisk south to southeasterly winds. The may be a brief light shower at times otherwise mainly dry.
High: 15

Nelson
Mostly sunny with light winds tending southeasterly, in the afternoon expect northerlies for a time.
High: 18

Marlborough
Sunny spells with brisk south to southeast breezes, easing later. Chance of a brief shower now and then about the coast south of Clifford Bay.
High: 17

Canterbury
Any early drizzle clears then a few sunny spells develop later in the afternoon, southerly breezes tend easterly late afternoon or evening.
Highs: 15-16

West Coast
Sunny with light south to southwest breezes.
Highs: 20-22

Coastal Otago
Sunny spells with light southwesterlies at first then afternoon northeasterlies.
Highs: 15-16

Central Otago
Mostly sunny with light winds, chance of some morning low cloud or a fog patch.
Highs: 21-23

Southland
Mostly sunny with light winds tending southeasterly.
Highs: 16-17
