Thursday Newsfeed: Cloudy eastern NI, high pressure elsewhere

High pressure crosses the South Island today with another cool start but a dry day for most with light winds. The North Island has a south easterly flow, bringing cloudier and a few showers to the east (Hawke’s Bay in particular, but it may not be much).

This wind direction will bring dry and mild weather by day to the west of those eastern ranges. That SE airflow in the North Island will likely turn to a nor’easter for some along the eastern South Island’s coast today.

The next cold front approach the South Island on Friday and slowly moves into the North Island over the coming weekend, weakening as it heads northwards. See our latest weather video for more details!
