Sunday’s national forecast – Large low crosses the North Island

A large area of low pressure is crossing over the North Island today bringing some areas of rain and showers but generally not an overly dramatic day.

Rain or showers returns to Canterbury today – hopefully below any concerning levels but following recent flooding it’s best to keep up to date with forecasts.

North Island:
Low pressure moves in with changing wind directions across the day. A few showers but plenty of dry areas too – downpours or an area of rain most likely around the lower eastern North Island.
Highs: 11 to 17

South Island:
Rain or showers on the east coast and may spillover into parts of Southland and Otago. Most other regions dry with sunniest weather on the West Coast.
Highs: 7 to 17 (coolest south, inland and east, warmest north and west).
