A north to northeasterly airflow freshens over New Zealand today ahead of a front in the Tasman Sea.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
A mix of sun and cloud with east to northeasterly winds, there may be a shower or two about the Coromandel and Great Barrier Island.
Highs: 14-15

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mainly sunny with light east to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 12-14

Eastern North Island
Cloudy areas and a few showers, becoming drier from afternoon with areas of sun increasing. The odd shower may hang about Gisborne through till evening. Easterly quarter winds.
Highs: 13-14

Wellington
Mainly sunny with light northerlies from afternoon.
High: 13

Marlborough & Nelson
About the Marlborough Sounds and Nelson expect mostly cloudy skies, light north to northeasterly winds. About coastal Marlborough skies are a bit sunnier.
Highs: 12-13

Canterbury
Mainly sunny with high cloud from late afternoon or evening, east to northeasterly winds freshening becoming gusty about the coast.
High: 10-12

West Coast
Morning sun then cloud increases from afternoon, areas of rain develop later in the evening or overnight. East to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 12-13

Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny after heavy frosts, high cloud develops late afternoon or evening. East to northeasterly winds, gusty about the Otago coast.
Highs: 8-10
