A front passes out to the east of the North Island this afternoon, meanwhile a low crosses the lower North Island moving out to the east this evening. Cool southerlies lie over the South Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Morning heavy rain about Bay Of Plenty, thunderstorms possible too. Elsewhere expect any early rain easing to the odd shower, sunny spells from afternoon about some areas especially the Bay Of Plenty. Gusty westerly winds tend southwest later today.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
A few showers then evening rain (possibly heavy) as northwesterly winds change gusty southerly. Rain eases overnight.

Eastern North Island
Early spots of rain clear, some sun then breaking through. Further rain moves into the Wairarapa in the afternoon as a gusty southwest change develops. Rain moves further north in the evening.

Wellington
Areas of rain, possibly heavy this afternoon then easing in the evening. Gusty southerly winds.

Marlborough & Nelson
Areas of rain ease this evening, breezy southerly winds (strong about the Sounds) easing overnight.

Rain eases to showers in the morning, then clearing in the evening. Cool southerly winds.

Morning rain clears then sunny spells increase from afternoon, southwesterly winds.
