A low and front passes over the upper South Island and much of the North Island today, areas of rain or showers mostly clearing this afternoon then sunny areas developing. The lower South Island has a mainly sunny day.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Areas of rain or showers, clearing around midday as northwesterly winds change southwest. Sunny spells increase from afternoon for some however there is a chance some high cloud may hang back over Northland and Auckland for the rest of the day.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Rain (chance of a heavy fall), clearing around midday as northerly winds change west to southwest, sunny spells increase from afternoon.
Highs: 12-14
 
Eastern North Island
A few areas / spots of rain, clearing around midday as northerly winds change southwest, becoming mostly sunny during the afternoon. Spots of rain may not develop about Gisborne till late morning then clearing late afternoon.
Highs: 16-17
 
Wellington
Areas of rain, easing and clearing in the afternoon as northerly winds change southerly.
High: 13
 
Marlborough & Nelson
Early rain eases to just a few showers then clearing before midday and becoming mostly sunny, southwesterlies die out in the afternoon.
Highs: 13-14
 
Canterbury
Morning rain then clearing, sunny spells increase from afternoon. Cool southwesterly winds die out by evening.
High: 11
 
West Coast
Any early showers clear then becoming mostly sunny, light southwesterly winds.
Highs: 11-13
 
Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny with a touch of high cloud from afternoon, light winds tending northwest for most however light northeast about coastal Otago.
Highs: 9-13
