A front approaches from the west moving onto the lower South Island around midday today, it slowly slips northwards and weakens as it approaches the lower North Island.

The North Island has a mainly dry day today, it’s not till overnight or perhaps around dawn on Monday that a few showers move into the southwestern corner (Taranaki through to Wellington).

Rain moves into Fiordland this morning then slowly moving northwards during the day along the West Coast. The odd spit about Southland and then perhaps Otago later this evening. The rest of the South Island has a dry day today.
