RainWatch: Monday’s 24 hour rainfall

A strong southwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand today.

Showers clear the upper North Island this morning then mainly dry, a shower or two may move into western Waikato later this evening. For the lower western North Island (Taranaki to Kapiti) expect the odd shower by midday. Some morning cloud about Wairarapa may bring a shower then clearing.

Rain or showers for the West Coast and about Southland / Otago. Cloud thickens up this afternoon about Canterbury bringing the risk of a shower as southwest winds freshen, mainly dry elsewhere.
