A northeasterly airflow lies over New Zealand today, moving around a large high which is centred east of the country in the Pacific Ocean.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Cloudy areas, perhaps a shower or two also especially in the east. Some sun also, more so this afternoon. The Bay Of Plenty sees sunny spells. Northeasterly breezes.
Highs: 18-21

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
A mix of sun and cloud, showers developing in the afternoon for inland areas possibly becoming heavy with thunderstorms then easing later in the evening.
Highs: 18-21

Eastern North Island
Any morning cloud breaking to a mostly sunny day with east to northeasterly winds, some cloud builds a little in the afternoon more so inland about the ranges. Afternoon showers developing about the Wairarapa, some could turn heavy with the risk of a thunderstorm then easing later in the evening.

Wellington
Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells, northerly winds.
High: 18

Marlborough & Nelson
Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells, north to northwesterly winds. Cloud builds for inland areas in the afternoon which may bring an isolated shower or two then clearing later in the day.
Highs: 18-22

Canterbury
Mostly sunny with afternoon east to northeasterly winds.
High: 23

West Coast
Fairly cloudy this morning, perhaps a light shower then drying out towards midday. Some sun breaks through this afternoon. About the ranges especially for Buller an isolated shower or two may develop this afternoon then clearing later in the day. West to northwest winds.

Southland & Otago
Morning cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather, a few early showers clearing Southland. Low risk of an isolated shower for some inland areas late afternoon / evening. Light winds tending onshore this afternoon.
Highs: 20-25
