A strong southwesterly airflow gradually eases during the day today.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Showers (possibly heavy at first) then easing during the day, strong west to southwesterly winds may gust to gale this morning then easing later in the day.
Highs: 16-18

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Cloudy areas with showers at times, brisk to strong west to southwesterly winds. Winds may gust to gale about coastal Taranaki then easing in the evening.
Highs: 13-17

Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny with breezy westerlies, winds change southwest this afternoon about the Wairarapa bringing a shower or two. Showers may reach Hawkes Bay and Gisborne in the evening.
Highs: 18-21

Wellington
Sunny spells, northwesterly winds freshen. Southerlies in the afternoon bring in some cloud.
Highs: 16-17

Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly sunny with breezy westerlies, winds may tend southwest this afternoon for a time, gusty about Nelson.
Highs: 18-21

Canterbury
Some early sun then south to southwesterly winds freshen this morning bringing cloudy areas, risk of a shower around midday otherwise mainly dry. Southwesterly winds die out by evening.
Highs: 15-16

West Coast
Showers then dry spells developing this afternoon although showers continuing Greymouth northwards and about Fiordland. Overnight showers becoming more widespread again. Fresh southwesterly winds.
Highs: 13-15

Southland & Otago
Showers ease this morning then becoming drier this afternoon, still fairly cloudy and the odd shower may continue about Southland for much of the day. Brisk to strong WSW winds ease later on.
Highs: 12-16
