Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Mostly cloudy, some rain develops around midday then clears this evening as northwesterly winds change southwest. There may be a heavy fall and isolated thunderstorm this afternoon about Northland, a lesser chance further south.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Rain, clearing around midday then becoming mostly sunny late afternoon. Breezy west to northwesterly winds, changing southwest this afternoon about Taranaki.
Highs: 18-19

Eastern North Island

Thick high cloud, some rain passes through the Wairarapa this morning then further north this afternoon. West to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 24-26

Wellington

Early rain clears then cloud breaking away to a mostly sunny afternoon, northwesterly winds.
High: 19

Marlborough & Nelson

High cloud clearing to a mostly sunny afternoon, west to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 21-23

Canterbury

Sunny with west to northwesterly winds, picking up a little after midday.
Highs: 22-23

West Coast

Cloudy areas and the odd shower, more so about South Westland. Becoming dry for most by evening. Southwesterlies.
Highs: 15-17

Southland & Otago

Mostly cloudy about Southland with a few showers, mainly afternoon and early evening. Strong to gale westerly winds. Otago has a mix of sun and cloud, chance of a shower otherwise mainly dry, winds gusty from the west midday onwards.
