Monday’s national forecast

A low moves away to the east of the country today meanwhile a strong west to southwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand bringing cloud and showers to many regions.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Cloudy areas especially from afternoon, the odd shower from midday as breezy to brisk westerlies gradually tend southwest.
Highs: 15-18

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Areas of rain, easing in the evening or perhaps clearing for some. Brisk to strong westerly winds.
Highs: 13-14

Eastern North Island

Areas of high cloud with gusty west to northwesterly winds, spots of rain at times more so about the Wairarapa.
Highs: 18-20

Wellington

Occasional showers, strong to gale northwest winds change southerly in the afternoon.
High: 15

Marlborough & Nelson

Some rain with strong northwesterly winds, winds change southwest in the afternoon with the odd shower which clears in the evening.
Highs: 15-16

Canterbury

Rain or showers, clearing around midday although hanging about parts of North Canterbury till evening. Sunny spells increase after areas of precipitation clear. Breezy SW winds.
High: 15

West Coast

Morning rain eases to showers which mostly clear early afternoon although the odd one may hang around till evening. Breezy west to southwest winds.
Highs: 13-14

Southland & Otago

Showers, clearing in the afternoon then sun increasing. Showers picking up again for a time later in the evening (mainly about Southland). Breezy west to southwesterly winds, gusty about coastal Otago.
Highs: 12-16
