A northeasterly airflow lies over the country today, many regions see sunny areas after morning cloud burns away. Inland parts of the North Island Waikato southwards see isolated showers late afternoon / evening possibly heavy with thunderstorms. Showers and thunderstorms possible about the upper South Island also although the risk is lower.

Northland

Sunny areas and some cloud, east to northeasterly winds.

Auckland

Becoming mostly sunny this morning, light east to northeasterly
winds.

Highs: 23

Bay Of Plenty

Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells, northeasterly winds.

High: 22

Waikato & Central North Island

Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells, light winds. Isolated showers develop
mid afternoon possibly heavy with thunderstorms then clearing later in the
evening.

Highs: 22-24

Eastern North Island

Morning cloud breaks to afternoon sunny areas, isolated showers possible in
the afternoon mainly about the ranges then clearing later in the evening.
Morning southerlies then afternoon east to northeast winds.

Highs: 22-23

Western North Island

Sunny areas this morning, cloud builds this afternoon with isolated showers
developing for some especially inland. Showers could be heavy with thunderstorms
then easing later this evening. Light winds.

Highs: 22-25

Wellington

Any light showers clearing this morning then cloud breaks to sunny spells
this afternoon. Isolated showers possible late afternoon / evening further
inland, light winds.

High: 22

Nelson

A cloudy start with the chance of a shower, sunny spells develop in the
afternoon. Late afternoon / evening isolated showers develop inland possibly
heavy then clearing later. Light winds this morning then afternoon
northerlies.

Marlborough

Morning cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather this afternoon, light winds.
Isolated showers possible late afternoon / evening inland.

High: 23-24

Canterbury

Morning cloud breaks to sunny areas, easterly winds pick up this afternoon
near the coast.

High: 20

West Coast

Periods of cloud and a few sunny spells, chance of an isolated shower in
the afternoon mainly about inland Buller. Light north to northeasterly
winds.

Highs: 22-24

Coastal Otago

Morning cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather, northeasterly winds pick up a
little this afternoon.

High: 20

Central Otago

Mostly sunny weather with north to northwesterly winds, some high cloud
moves in later in the evening.

Highs: 26-27

Southland

Mostly sunny with light winds, tending southerly PM. Chance of a late
afternoon / evening isolated shower mainly inland.

Highs: 23-24
