InfoGraphic: The Big Picture for Tuesday / Wednesday

An anticyclone covers New Zealand today bringing fairly settled weather. High pressure brings mainly settled conditions on Wednesday, a chance conditions may turn unstable about inland parts of the South Island during the afternoon.

Mainly settled across New Zealand today, showers about Coromandel and northern Hawkes Bay / Gisborne then easing and clearing in the afternoon. The South Island is fairly dry, a few showers about the far south especially morning then again in the evening.

Mostly sunny for the North Island on Wednesday, some high cloud moves in from the south afternoon onwards. Gisborne and perhaps northern Hawkes Bay has some cloud and the risk of a shower. A mix of sun and mid / high level cloud for the South Island, rain or showers about Fiordland eases from afternoon. A few morning showers clear Southland. Inland north Otago and inland South Canterbury sees a chance of isolated showers late afternoon / evening, a low chance some of these may turn heavy with thunderstorms then clearing at night.
