A large anticyclone centred in the south Tasman Sea directs a southwesterly airflow over New Zealand on Tuesday.

Some cloud for western parts of the North Island on Tuesday, some coastal areas may see cloud linger for much of the day. Mostly sunny elsewhere.

The South Island has a mostly sunny day, a few areas of morning cloud for some then breaking away. Cloud may be a little more persistent during the day about coastal Southland and the Catlins.
