A front pushes northwards over New Zealand today, winds preceding the front from the northwest then changing southwest in behind.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Increasing cloud, evening showers then clearing overnight as northwesterly winds change southwest.
Highs: 17-20

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly cloudy, showers develop in the afternoon then clear in the evening as northwesterlies change west to southwest.
Highs: 14-16

Eastern North Island
High cloud increases in the morning then breaking away in the evening, some sun at times especially later in the day. North to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 20-22

Wellington
Cloudy, a shower or two in the afternoon / early evening then clearing away. There may be some sun late in the day before dusk sets in. Brisk to strong north to northwesterly winds.
High: 15

Marlborough & Nelson
High cloud thickens from morning, a few spots of rain pass through in the afternoon then some sun later in the day. North to northwesterly winds becoming blustery then changing southwest in the evening.
Highs: 17-19

Canterbury
Morning high cloud may bring a spot of rain then sunny areas increase from afternoon with north to northwesterly winds. Later in the afternoon or evening winds tend southerly near the coast.
Highs: 20-22

West Coast
Rain develops in the morning then easing to showers and sunny spells in the afternoon as northerlies change southwest.
Highs: 15-16

Southland & Otago
Early rain eases to showers in the morning then clearing, becoming mostly sunny around midday. Northerlies change to the west or southwest in the afternoon.
Highs: 15-20
