Unsettled for most of New Zealand today as a low pressure system moves over the country from the Tasman Sea.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Mostly cloudy with the odd shower, breezy northwesterly winds change strong westerly later in the day.
Highs: 17-20

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mostly cloudy with the odd shower and northwesterlies, rain picks up later in the evening or overnight as west to southwesterly winds strengthen.
Highs: 15-16

Eastern North Island

High cloud with some sun at times, northwesterly winds. A period of evening showers about the Wairarapa.
Highs: 18-20

Wellington

Cloudy areas and the odd shower, mainly from midday. Southeasterly winds tend northwest in the afternoon.
High: 13

Marlborough & Nelson

Mostly cloudy, chance of a shower in the morning otherwise mainly dry. Areas of rain from afternoon which eases later in the evening, rain may pick up again overnight about Nelson. Light southerlies.
Highs: 12-13

Canterbury

Showers developing this morning then turning to rain by midday, light southerlies tend southwest later.
High: 10-11

West Coast
Mostly cloudy, a few showers from afternoon but plenty of dry areas too. Buller sees rain develop from afternoon. Winds are light.

High: 12

Southland & Otago

Mostly cloudy with the odd shower becoming more widespread in the afternoon, rain moves into coastal Otago and the Catlins from afternoon. Easterlies tend southwest later in the day.
Highs: 10-11
