Half of New Zealand has a long weekend this weekend and the forecast is looking fantastic for most spots in the upper North Island.

As high pressure continues to dominate, putting pressure on those who rely on rainwater, it’s giving a positive spin to holidaymakers after unsettled start to January in northern NZ.

On Monday the Laneway Festival is on at Albert Park. Some passing clouds otherwise sunny and hot with a high in the park of between 25 and 27 degrees. A refreshing westerly breeze will develop in the afternoon.

For travellers – by air, sea, rail and road – all looks excellent weatherwise. There may be some morning cloud inland each morning, otherwise dry roads and light winds.
