As of 2024 we will no longer be publishing questions related to weather forecasts if they are answered via our hyper-local hourly & 10 day forecasts, weather maps and regular daily and monthly weather & climate videos.
Weāre a small NZ business with limited resources to respond to general weather questions. Our social media pages may be helpful to you, especially if you want to often talk (or groan!) about your local weather.Ā You can find more resources from us here if thatās your thing.

Thanks for your support!

Where does the chance of rain come from for the day?
I looked at tomorrowās chance of rain for my area and itās 0% but when I look at the hourly, It ranges from 1-14%, none of them is 0%

Daily figures show 7am to 7pm, hourly shows hourly. Sometimes it will say 0% because the rain is in the other section. If thatās not the case please let us know which location so we can take a look. There have been a couple bugs in the system lately and itās possible this is connected to that.
Thanks

Hey guys, I get the weather is hard to predict at the moment but itās bloody annoying when the forecast says āTraceā amount of rain and āPartly cloudy. Breezy West to SouāWest winds.ā and then it torrentially chucks it down all the way from Mt Wellington to Albany.

Hi there, appreciate the frustration ā but be angry with the Government ā itās Niwa and MetService who have commercialised/blocked access to tax funded radar and tax funded weather data which (as weāve said for 15 years now) would fix that very problem.
Lobby your local MP or the Government to make change ā they have their second review in place now, after entirely ignoring the last review in 2017 which said NZ weather data is expensive and hard to access or use for the good of the public.
We can only do so much as a small business ā yet the rainfall data we use is still more accurate overall than Government agencies Niwa and MetService when it comes to rain forecasting. Most accurate = perfection though.
Cheers

Interesting weather in Europe at present: Temperature anomaly between the past Sunday (April 14th) and the following Sunday (April 21st), from around 15 Ā°C too warm to more than 10 Ā°C below average temperature.

Hi there, weāre not sure why this has happened. Weāve had another person contact us with a similar issue, where it shows some local data but then the forecasts are for a larger location close/nearby. Weāre looking into it, so thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Regards,
ā WW
