Weather Video: High pressure is trying to build around NZ

Filed in:

Despite the wind and rain events lately there is still evidence that high pressure systems are building around New Zealand.

As we head through Tuesday winds will be calmer around much of the country after a windy Monday for some.

By Wednesday eastern areas will be warm with westerly quarter winds pushing temperatures towards the low 20s. But it cools down on Thursday as high pressure crosses the South Island.

By Friday we see a few showers here and there in the North Island mostly, otherwise dry. The weekend starts off dry and mild with northerlies developing.

By Sunday a low in the Tasman will be moving in with patchy rain and some wind - but it should also be weakening. High pressure looks set to return to New Zealand next week too.
